Yes, it was a mess up from start to finish. On the plus side, we may find some stuff in the remaining cargo pods - and our backpacks (which we filled with stuff before we crash landed).

This ship here might be worth a punt, low on resources to build and would work well as a multi-purpose craft.

I am busy on Tuesday and Wednesday, but if I were to pick this up would you guys be able to show me the ropes today, Thursday or Friday?

It does look a good one Jeg

I should be on for a bit tonight Greg so i could show you what to do.  I will make you a couple of things you need so you will get a little head start and i will come and pick you up and bring you back to the main base as you will probably crash land on the other side of the planet :-)

Yey, finally Sir Gregularse is going to play - it's about time. Now all we need is Gouty Mc. GoutFoot and we are sorted.

As is usual, your days never line up with mine there Greg - I am busy tonight (Game of Thrones) and Thursday - but will probably be around tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday. To be honest though, it's probably a good idea for you to do your own thing for a bit until you get your head around it so you can learn the ropes. There is a good tutorial. If I were you, I'd do that and then get one of us to ferry you over to our base after you have the basics down.

How long does the tutorial take?

1-2 hours at a guess. It's well worth doing, since if we just come and pick you up and take you to the base right away, you will have missed out on a great deal of information by doing the tutorial (that you may not learn from us at present, since all we are doing is mining and building ships). That's my thoughts anyway.

Fair enough, sounds like a plan of sorts. When are you about Megan?

Fair point do the tutorial then i will pick you up

Just put mumble on and i can help you if you need it

Jeg i might build a bigger landing pad when i get on tonight and do some more mining.  I started building a CV in creative but it is a real challenge i think i will do a blueprint for my first one as some of them are really good so need to do lots of mining :-)

Sounds good to me Meg, we could definitely do with an expanded landing area now - especially if we are moving on to several capital ships. I would double-check our Magnesium and Promethium supplies too, since we need more ammo for our rescue attempt and I had none what-so-ever.

I might try and organise things a bit better maybe just the constructor in the corner for ore processing etc

I might also build some bedrooms over the garden so we have a little bit of private storage?

Will check those supplies

Well, ol' Johnny Boy gone messed up last night didn't he!? That'll teach him not to run off to a hostile planet on his own when we have no warp capable ships as a backup. What a melon - though also extremely funny at the same time.

I grilled him about that this morning. Incidentally, I found just enough ore to build a capital ship to go and rescue him - he has done some mining and will have some stuff to bring back if I can go and get him before he dies. Lols. :-)

Launchpad needs to be a lot, LOT bigger though. Quite surprising just how big it needs to be for the capitals.

Yes he did didn't he maybe he will learn leroy is not the way in this game!

He started asking me to build a CV and come and get him be i didn't have the materials plus the build time was over an hour so (;,,;)

I did a load of mining for iron and got 4 loads of 999 ingots + 500 more ore to process so i kept 2 for my CV and put the rest in the processed ore box.  I have enough iron for my CV now just have to get all the rest of what i need.  I like your idea of processing the ore on your ship whilst mining, i took my gunship mining and every so often went back and shoved more ore in the constructor :-).  Also grouped stuff on board so shut down everthing except the constructor and the fridge

Yes i thought the landing pad i built was pretty big but two gunboats and 2 fighters fills it up.  I had a quick look in creative and even the Polaris and the other little CV dwarf my gunboat.  So perhaps we need to extend the base out onto that lake, a bit Atlantis style with a centre hub and 3/4 hugh landing pads on the corners for CV it will need a lot of steel blocks though

How long shall we leave john marooned? :-b

LOL. What a penis. I take it you didn't make one then? Wouldn't have been so bad if we actually had a backup, but that got destroyed on the very same planet he went to only the other day. Only a complete yoghurt would do it again on their own when no rescue was available.

Wow, that's good - we should have plenty of iron now then (I got 2 stacks too, so we are covered). Nice one! Yeah, it's the way to go. Group all the non-essentials so you can turn them off and just let the ship sit their processing while you mine.

Yes, I was going to suggest this - we could also then build in O2 thingies straight into the base for easy access over the water.

He seemed desperate to get off there when I spoke to him today - so much so that he was thinking of committing suicide just to get back to our planet. I urged him not to do this, but he is so impatient that I doubt he will listen. If my ship is complete tonight I can go and get him and all the ore. Then we will have some Zacosium to get us started on the good stuff.

No I didn't build anything to go and get him i was laughing too much :-)

By all means build your CV ship but make sure it has automated defense turrets.  Or wait for back up from my CV then we can both go to get him together then we stand a better chance.  It would be bad for you to lose your ship and get marooned as well!

John will fresh start i am sure he has no patience but maybe he could bury all the ore he has mined so it is safe then we can go and get it when we have 2 x CV ships

I might make a start on Atlantis when i am waiting for my CV to build which one are you going for?

The one I am building can defend itself, it has a few turrets and should do us proud.

He mentioned he may possibly put all the ore in his orbiting station (the one that blew his warp core up) so we can just jump in, get the ore and jump back out. Assuming no plasma drones are hanging around this should work nicely, but I honestly do not know what he is going to do, because, as we said, he is too impatient - and not really very much a "team player".

Sounds good, I will come and help you I think. I had about 400 steel blocks on the go in PREPARATION for making the pad, so can make a good start.

I went with the Polaris, but I think a good idea should be to make a couple of those "Compact CV's" - perhaps one for each of us, after this one is done. That way we have a few ships to play with in the event someone gets marooned - plus they are pretty good general use ships (I tested it myself in creative mode) and very low on resources to build.

So, with 3x Compact CV's and 1x Polaris, we are gonna need a landing-pad of epic proportions!

Sounds good Greg. The tutorial is definitely where you want to start (whether it be in SP or on our server).

I take it we are planning on doing this on Friday then? Will be good with us all on proper. I had mentioned the game to G-Man, but I have no idea where he is/what he is up too at present.

Regarding the Compact CV, I made some small modifications to one in creative and saved the blueprint. The result is a very slight reduction in iron usage. I removed both top "fins", so the turret has 360 degree view and also removed the little square blockage of lift that pops up on the top of the ship and replaced the door with one that is flat and horizontal on the deck.

We can effectively mod any of the workshop ships to our liking and then create our own blueprints from them if necessary. To be honest, I think this is the way to go, most workshop blueprints I posted in the other thread have had lots of time, effort and thought put into them - far more than we would probably do with our own creations.

Besides, once we have our empire on the go, it may be fun all chipping in together to make one monster CV ship - our own mothership that we all call home.

Sounds like a plan i will build this compact CV but i was thinking of modding it slightly in creative and taking the fins off too great minds and all that

One uber mothership would be a good idea later on

Shiny! Not sure what the build time is on the Compact CV, but the Polaris was 5.5 hours, so bound to be less than that. If we have the mats to do 2 of them, I will stick one in the oven as well when I am on tonight.
