I know, I know, these games are more common than skidmarks in Greg's bed at the moment, but here is another one
. What makes this different is that you have progression from crashing on a planet and trying to escape by building a small ship, to building a mothership in orbit to escape the planet gravity and then head off into space. Watch the whole video, it looks interesting indeed.

EDIT: Steam game link here.

That's a bit poo. So they offer you 40% off of a game that doesn't work, that's nice of them.

Yep, I think the general lack of support/response and the mess the game seems to be in is very worrying. Alarm bells started ringing, like what happened with Starforge. I would be extremely weary of this game now, after the "free weekend".

Incidentally, there are quite a few posts of people with similar issues. I spent over 2 hours Friday night trying to fix it, to no avail. All the other threads I found, there was never a solution - or even a response from a dev. Now, that doesn't sound like they give a shit about fixing it or helping people with the issue.

I was annoyed enough at the time and effort I put into getting it working (which ultimately I gave up on), but imagine the poor sods that actually bought the game to find out it was completely broken. So, yeah, steer clear of it me-thinks.

Next.

FYI: I got some information from a long-time player regarding the issue with multiplayer on this game and looks as if it may be "fixed".

IMO, from everything I have seen and heard on the game, yes. Given we are currently running on empty with regards to a game we can all play together (that has some longevity) I would put this at the top of the list (IF it works).

It's risky though, being an EA game. What do you think?

Not sure, I would have rather picked it up on sale if it is a bit iffy.

Yeah I know what you mean. I am a bit undecided on whether spending 15 squid on it is worth it or not.

Well I took the plunge last night and just bought the game. It works now, thankfully. A server is up and joinable.

I had a suprising amount of fun in it, it shows great promise. Kind of a fusion between Space Engineers, GRAV and 7 Days To Die.

It has the building from 7 Days to Die, the scenario from Space Engineers and the survival and enemy-thing from 7 Days to Die. All in all, I think this could be one of the better games of this genre that we have.

My Story So Far...

I was thrust into the game as my escape pod was hurtling towards a planet. It gave me little time to survey my surroundings and attempt to choose a good landing spot. I crashed into the middle of a forest and clambered out. Thankfully there is a pretty good tutorial (press F1) in the game to give you hints on the basics and get you up to speed.

I retrieved what I could from my pod and messed about with the interface and keys for a bit. I equipped a gun and laid down my Constructor. After messing about with that for a bit I went off to explore. I cut down a few trees and suddenly a POI appeared saying I had discovered an ore deposit. I went off to find it.

On my way to it I was shot and killed by a hovering drone. Woops. I respawned and ran to get my stuff. I grabbed my backpack and equipped a pistol to take out the motherfucker. I did. The drone came crashing down on top of me. I looted it for supplies and continued on. As I reached the ore, another POI popped up - another already existing base of some kind. Great, I thought, I will go there. That didn't work out. A massive cannon on top of the base opened fire on me and killed me. Upon respawn I realised there was no way I was getting my backpack again, so chose a "Fresh Start", wherby the game drops you in the escape pod again.

This time, I was on the opposite face of the planet. Fair enough, I thought, at least I know not to go anywhere near the base. After a short trek, I found a crashed cruiser, which I scavenged and got tons of ore and parts from. I set about running through the tutorial and established a base right next to the crashed ship. I made some guns, a sentry turret, a fridge and various other bits and bobs.

Much of my initial time spent was simply understanding how things worked, but I must say I really enjoyed what I saw. The server generated a random solar system for us to explore with about 7 different planets in it. I must say I look forward to group play with this one.

Captain Jimbobslimbob: Space adventurer, signing off. :-b

I think you would love it Greg. It really is "just the ticket". It has all the best bits of other survival games crammed into one.

Server details are in the private thread. I have created a forum for this and moved this thread there so we can keep things tidy. It is, of course, up 24/7. I will be setting it up to update and backup daily.
