well, i started to collect all the cinder blocks from the surface, and collect all the brown grass, so as it was more difficult for zed to sneak up on you.
Good plan, it's a right mess around that area.
i then wondered if cinder block can be broken down, turns out, 1 cinder block pile makes 1 concrete so, actually a worth while harvestable resource...
Now this is superb, since concrete was my next goal, means we can get it from stone/sand and these blocks as well. A good find. Give yourself a biscuit.
blueberry platform and entrance could do with a proper zed proof entrance - when they have proper pathfinding in later releases we could come a cropper not protecting the entrance. might go see how deep they've got overnight above us too.
This is true, we will have to see what improvements we can make.
i shall be about around that time i should think, is original greg onboard? i assume max's tinterwebs is still playing up?
I don't think either of them are around tonight - Mark has not got his machine set up yet (he just moved house) and I asked Greg about today earlier in the week and he said no - although I am not 100% on either, so we will have to wait and see. As Greg seems to be in a lake of harry today, I may give him a text just to be sure...

*gobbles McEnnedy lidl purchased choc chip*

y thanks, don't mind if i do...

i don't think collecting all the cinder blocks will yield as much concrete as you've managed to make in one of the chests, but as it's on our doorstep we may as well process it...

i made the bedroom in order to grab a load more stone, but i went a bit silly and now we have  approx 1k crossbow bolts, in addition to as much gunpowder as we'll ever need - brass aside as it seems to be the rarest metal...

scrap that - just had a quick look, we still have ~250 stone...

if we could find two additional mp5 we could go into full scale production, likewise with the sniper rifle - we need 4 more of those, however i think we would have to scour the whole map, heard something about a military base in the north west corner of the map?

Fair enough, but as you say, it is right on our doorstep so we may as well add it to the stockpile. When I start making it into reinforced concrete, will will end up with a quarter of the amount, I believe.

That's a 'lotta bolts!!!!! Yes, brass is a bit of an issue at present. I hope they turn it into a mineable/craftable ore in the future.

So a weapon collection looting may be in order. I have not explored much of the map thus far, so I was unaware of such an installation. It may well be worth a raid, if we can make it there. Given the distance, we may need to set up another base in the region, just so we have somewhere to wait out the night without dying.

We began "phase 2" of the master plan last night - while you (Greg) were busy playing kiss-chase or whatever it is you do , which involved a relocation to set up our fort. Given we now have about 3000 blocks of reinforced concrete, I think the fort we will end up building will be epic.

On a side note, we made some mods to your farm to make it more secure and also extended our original boardwalk farm and planted some corn, ready for making fuel. Note: don't harvest the corn until you can pick up 3 at once - it takes several days to grow to full maturity, unlike blueberries.

We added torches all around the outside and a few inside, re-planted some of your knackered crops - with Corn and removed a block-deep of stone around the base, so that Z's cannot climb up the wall.

Dyson also suggested we make some repairs on the dirt (some of it had been smashed up), so I took my wrench to it and it's all 100% now. See, what are friends for?

It tasted like smelly Tuna.
Anyone one tonight?
Not me. Walking Dead tonight. Stop playing kiss-chase with the misses and *** *** ** *** ****** (I said I was not to say anymore about it - so you have to guess what I said now :-)), you could have played with us last night. To that end, did she enjoy our brief playtime on Friday?

Oooo, forgot to say, we found out how to make pipe bombs. I put 2 stacks of 10 in one of the (now many) weapons chests in the storage room. Plant Fibre, Gunpowder and Metal Pipe, I believe.

- I will update the craft list...

Yea she enjoyed it; it’s just that we have got so far with our game that she doesn’t really have any connection to the one we have all made of the server.

Whilst you make a valid point Greg, I will have to point out that whilst you chaps put in the time with the misses to get game time, I combine to the two things. That’s why I have Jen game time and Greg game time.

Also she brought us both farcry 3 and company of hero’s 2 last week so might be cutting down on the 7 days a bit. Don’t want to have too much of a good thing.

Also Greg I think the quote was a bit abstract; I was shooting for the bad lip reading twilight when they are talking about the piece of cake. I just watched them again yesterday so it fresh in the old brain.

I can understand that. If you two are going to reset your game when the new update comes out, how about we "merge" then. We will all be starting from scratch and she may find it more to her liking? Just thought; it makes sense if we are all helping together on the same server. You two can still go off and do your own thing somewhere else in the map anyway. Take it as you will.

Indeed. But you could combine the two, with games she and we like. But, either way, I do understand... sort of.

Farcry 3 was good, have you not played it yet? I did remember I got to the last island and got bored stiff of it before I completed it though.

Yup, missed that one entirely. I will have to watch them again too :-)

When me and Jen get our place and she is sick of the sight of me then I should be able to move onto timetable with everyone else.

Me and X-spoon might be on for a bit tonight now it seems.

Did reasonably well last night on 7 days. It did seem like the server is haunted by the digital sprit of bricky though.

We organised the new base a bit and went on a few supply runs. The primary activity of the evening was TNT mining. I worked out how to blow a uniform 6x6 crater out of rock with the TNT so we started making a tunnel back towards the first lake base.

Progress was very very fast and we gathered a huge amount of iron, coal, potassium nitrite and lead. The only hold back was paper, the mining itself gathers enough coal & potassium nitrite to be self-sustaining and the plant fibres are too numerous to be counted as a resource really but paper was the sticking point.

If you get a chance to look at the tunnel, it was done with about 40 bits of TNT so you can imagine to progress that could be made with 100+ units.

So my request is that should anyone find paper when out and about, please keep all of it and we will have a subterranean superhighway connection the new base to the old one.

Nice! I had a play about with TNT - but a word of warning: it does not allow you to collect all the blockes that it destroys. You only get 50% of them back. In this respect, if you are going in a straight line I found the Auger much quicker and more efficient. Given with our corn crops we can now make fuel, we will not be short on "ammo" for it either.

Paper is a bit of a shit - along with brass. I hope they add a future update that allows wood to be turned into paper and some way of mining brass.

So what of the 3 bases are you currently at? The new one up north?

Even with the 50% return we must have got at least 1500 stacks of scrap iron so it seems ok on that front. The only thing with the resultant tunnel using TNT is that it is much larger so you don’t keep getting stuck on torches and get jams when people are running in opposite directions. We will have to do a speed comparison at some point.

Currently at the one in the north west where the rivers meet.

Cool, it does sound like it went well. I may have to play about with some TNT tunneling myself if it is indeed that good. So what is this masterful technique you have, for ultimate tunnellage then?

Yeah, I wanted (before server reset) to go nuts and build a massive fort up that way - hence why I moved all the reinforced concrete up there.

It’s not too complex:
- Leave a gap of 1 block from the floor then dig in 2 blocks deep. If you were looking at a wall the X is the block you would dig.
OOO
OXO
OOO
- Place TNT in the hole
- Stand back and shoot the TNT.
- 6x6 area cleared out.

To go a bit faster:

- Dig in 3 blocks
- Place TNT in the hole
- Stand back and shoot the TNT.
- 6x6 area cleared out with a few blocks left around that form an entrance. These blocks are damaged and can be mined with 1-2 strikes.

When you are in the rhythm you make some progress. Check out all the material in the storage boxes in the tunnel.
