I noticed you guys were having a go at this the other day so thought I would start this to pool any information we might stumble across.

Ok so i played this on my own yesterday and Saturday for a few hours and yes sorry have levelled up a bit.

Basically this is a hard game and the 4 of us trying to do missions is going to be very hard until we level up and get some better weapons.  The basic rifle you start with does 16 damage i think and even a really good one all modded up will only be around 50 so not a huge amount of difference however it is better.  I now have a G36 with a scope and barrel mod and can take down police pretty quick.

I did a few missions with online players one group had me a lvl 55 and two lvl 90 odd and we breezed a couple of missions but the main reason for this was they had the kit.  One was a bank job, one had a sniper and one a SAW which keep the police back but it was the speed one lvl 90 blew the safe with C4 then used a grinder and was in the safe deposit boxes in under 30 secs.  We set up the sky hook thing and bagged 10 bags of cash before the police got too heavy sending shields, snipers etc then bugged out through the sewers as they had called in the army (never saw them though).  That was on hard and i got 450K spending money and about 4 lvls

As for stealth missions besically these are impossible unless you have a silenced weapon again kit.  Even with the kit these are a bitch i tried with a group to do a bank heist 4-5 times and never made but we did do that gallery missions without setting the alarm off but that took 3 goes

So as i am a bit higher level now i should be able to help us do missions and it doesn't matter we are different lvls.  If you do a hard mission you will get more xp than me and start to catch up if we do an easy mission i will get a difficulty penalty

It might be worth doing what i did try and do a few missions with a high lvl group you can almost tag along for the ride and get loads of cash and xp, plus they are good at reviving you as you get my xp and cash if all of you make it

I think this will make it do-able and therefore more fun

Nice work.

By the sounds of it we do need at least one person to be of a higher level just to get started then. I suppose it does not give you an unbelievable edge being a higher level not like borderlands where a level 50 I basically impervious to a level 20 bullets.

If I get some time I will try and jump on a random game. If there were two of us in with two higher levels do you think it would still work?

Mind you I a loving the Homeworld re-mastered at the moment so might be hard pressed to divert my attentions from that. On that note, and somewhat off topic, might be worth installing that, it would be a good backup for a Friday night if everyone bails.

Yes the damage you receive doesn't seem to change and neither does your health.  You can get better armour and through perks that armour can be more effective but yes it is not like borderlands.  I saw a lvl 1-92 getten taken down pretty quick by a dozer.

It seems to be all about speed with the robbery style missions.  Get in and out quick and grad as much as you can

I have just started Homeworld as i don't want to get too far ahead on Payday (i think i am lvl 31) so that is an option

31!? Fuck me it might take a whilst to catch up there. Still no bother really, it will be good to have your extra kit to help us out.

it didn't really take that long to be honest 2-3 hard missions and 1 overkill mission pretty much did it

The overkill mission was mall smasher and i pretty much hid in the corner :-) and got nearly 800k and jumped about 8 lvl's

Yeah I founf that PREPARATION is key. You really do need to position everyone before-hand, and be sure everyone brings kit that will help the job - the radio jammer was really handy for not setting alarms off. You can just slap them to walls to turn off security cameras. I just think we need to tailor our kit dependent on the level instead of assigning roles based on what we like to play.

Additionally, the skills you unlock under different trees can be accessed at the start of the game - so you can spread out points - infact you ideally want to be doing that (for at least the first skill in each set) so you can use up some points and get the essential stuff.

Lastly, your "armour" recharges - much like a shield, so as soon as you take damage, find cover and it will eventually recharge. It makes no difference to health, but DOES effect that.

I see, might have to adjust our tic tacs a bit then.

I thought everyone had already spread the skill out a bit anyway? I know I had the medic pack, ammo and trip mine which were selectable.

I might tag along on some hard games to farm some points then.

Yes, I think the biggest issue we all faced is that we are treating it like any other FPS - it really isn't like that. It requires a high level of organisation, communication and teamwork if you want to do the levels without it simply turning into a shooting fest.

Still we live and learn. I think I will be an interesting challenge to get somewhere on this with a real sense of achievement when we finally blat a level properly.

We do indeed.

O and one more point - Meg mentioned Stealth isn't viable unless you have a silencer... this is not true. Melee kills are silent (as long as you are not seen) - and there are perks you can buy for the Stealth section to enhance various similar abilities - it's the way to go for sure - as long as you don't use it on civilians (guards etc. only).

I am thinking more attention needs to be paid to this way of play - careful, precision takedowns. If you have a team, like we do, all communicating, it will be a piece of piss. Less Leeeeeeeeroy Rambo style and more Softly softly.

Maybe but unless you have a throwable melee weapon with ammo the cameras are a real problem and again you need to lvl up to get the perk you can get a silence as soon as you have the cash

Erm, no - that's what the jammers are for.

...yes, which really is not that difficult. The jammers only need to be NEAR the camera to have an effect.
