If you get the moon station up and running Greg I would be more than interested in seeing some videos / pictures.

Cool, thanks. I will no doubt be attempting that in the near future.

As for space for additional Kerbies, from what I can tell you can either:

a) Eject a number of Kerbies from the pod at launch (e.g. on a 3 man capsule, eject 2 of them so you have 1 left to fly). This gives you 2 spare seats.

b) Use a normal capsule, but add an additional empty one (I think I only saw 1 of these types of capsule). They seat 3 or 4 from what I can remember - so even more space at the cost of more weight. If you look at the screenshot of my space station, the bit that the solar panels are attached to is this 'empty pod' that can carry additional Kerbies.

I try and do that, Greg. Same goes for you when you get up and running.

I might have a look at stations tonight i want to land on Minus first.

I like the idea of a fuel station around the Mun Greg it would make far out missions easier. I was looking at some utube clip yesterday at someone who had made a massive base on the Mun. It looked awesome but he said it took him ages.

One question is there a way of getting rid of all the empty fuel cans i have floating round Kerbal?

Go to settings and change the option that reads something like "Max persistent Debris" to 0. All debris from flights that are not in progress are removed.

As for the Kerbies Greg who cares just eject them and let them float off into space :-)

You heatless monster! To be honest I was only sending them back down to avoid space junk, but as Greg points out you can get rid of that anyway with the settings so next time I will not bother. Or shoot them into the Sun.

Me heartless?

So shooting them into the Sun is ok then?

They don't mind that so much, they get a nice tan on the way in and the chances are they will get zapped by a solar flare and fried alive anyway. It's a serene way to go.

Well, I managed to get another space station up - and this one is orbiting the Mun! Screenshot is up. I plan on doing some mods to the station next and either a re-launch or an expansion to it.

Well done James on your second space station.

After about 3 hours and 15 atempts i have given up getting to Minus for the time being i just can't get the orbit right it keeps tring to lock on to the Mun maybe it would be better to try from Mun orbit i don't know.

Next time i am on i might have a look at stations instead

Well thank-you cheers tar for that. Actually, getting the Mun station up was not much trouble at all - I did it in 20 minutes. All that was required was an additional stage on my main rocket to give me a little more fuel.

I don't understand the problem you are having with Minmus - it is no more harder than the Mun, it just requires a little more fuel. The only 1 thing I did encounter was the terrain on Minmus is a little more tricky - my initial landing zone had me landing directly on the edge of a mountain, which required a little correction before landing properly.

I must warn you, if you can't get to Minmus I would not even bother with docking - that is by far the hardest thing I have had to do in KSP yet.

I just can't seem to get the angle right for the orbit to go purple and give me an encounter and it always tries to sent me to the Mun and then sends me flying off into space.

I did manage it once but i was on time warp and missed the encounter not to frustrating.

I don't know why i am having so much trouble as i can get into Mun orbit everytime without thinking about it i tryed a couple last night

Docking should be fun :-)

Well, you can always try the method I showed you before - circularising your orbit in reverse to Minmus. That's how I landed. Basically, the first time I tried it I missed like you, but instead of just restarting I tried that circularising method. It used up a bit more fuel but worked like a treat - and that is actually how I landed.

I seem to recall my first four or five attempts I simply crashed directly into the moon so you have one up on me Greg.

Getting to Minmus?

As for the space station around the Mun, if you managed a space station orbiting Kerbin Greg, then getting one to the Mun is really not that much more difficult. As I said, I nipped on quickly for 20 minutes and did it first time, no troubles. I'm sure you will have it done in no time.

Just generally crashed a lot! There were not many navigation aids on the version I was playing so it was very trial and error.

Was the "add maneuver" thing around when you played? Found that really helpful for setting complex stuff up.

Back in my day it and pencil and paper, hold your breath and take it up rear stuff. None of this new-fangled computer nonsense.

I don't believe there were any navigation aids, not that i can recall anyway. There was a bit on the nav ball that gave you a general direction to point at and that was about it.
