Just wondering...

How do you guys feel about Star Wars Battlefront II and Republic Commando?

I like them both, but I was interested in your opinions.

Thanks,
Sepi

I haven't played Battlefront 2 i did play the first won briefly but at the time all my mates were playing Battlefield 2 or some Call of Duty and to be honest it didn't really stand up well against them.

Is Battlefront 2 much better i did here it had a much better campaign i don't know why i never got it.

Yep played Republic Commando loved it in fact completed twice on the first play when it came out. I remember the squad system was really good. I think the game is in the loft somewhere not played it for years.

So you are a fan of Star Wars games? Did you play the new mmo The Old Republic me and slimbob did for a while but it got very boring which was a real shame :-(

I wouldn't mind playing battle front 2, but I only have it for X-box; Its a good laugh. We used to have a team of 4 storm troopers and set the enemy team up with as many Jar Jar Binks things as possible. As the Jar Jar things were only armed with explosive socks that they chucked at you it was great fun cutting down hordes of them with machine gun fire.

Just had a look it is £6.32 on amazon so not much might be worth getting.

Is it dedicated servers or do you have to rely on someone else?

I have never played either of them but if they are cheap enough and others are playing them then I would definitely give them a go.

Maximus:

Battlefornt II is alot better in my opinion.

I unfortunately did not play the Old Republic game; however I'd be glad to play it (though it sounds like your bored of it). :-)

Hi Sepi

Might have to give BF2 a look then both you and Greg rate it so if i see it cheap i will pick it up how do the graphics look as this is 7 years old. Does it look very dated or has it aged well?

You didn't miss much with The Old Republic is was good and me and Jim really enjoyed getting to lvl 50 we had a guild going and everything.

However when you hit lvl 50 you find that the only thing to do is to grind the same daily missions over and over again or if you can find a group repeat the same few operations. As you can imagine this gets very boring.

A shame as TOR could have been epic. Since me and Jim stopped playing they have brough out very little content and a new expansion you have to pay for even if you are a subscriber!

Yes, TOR got very tedious for me. A shame, as I did enjoy it while it lasted. As for Battlefront 2, I may look into finding it cheap - because if me, Maximus, Greg and you are playing it it may be fun. Plus I am still on a recruitment drive for this site, so there may be more soon! ;-)

Where do you find people then? I think if you put a bit of grumble up in the video section more people would join.

I have been posting on various Steam groups and forums asking for gamers that want to sign up.

Tut tut. Shame on them! Well, I didn't expect any of that lot to come over, but if you can get 'em here then great.

Maximus:

The graphics aren't horrible; I mean they aren't HD Skyrim graphics or whatever, but they are alor better than battlefrront I in my opinion.

Battlefront II maps get kinda boring after a little bit; however, there are hundreds of dowloadable maps and mods...lets just say, I've had this for like 5 years and i still enjoy playing it fairly often.

Nice one, thanks for the link. When I get my hands on a copy I will be sure to check out some of the mods. Is there any in particular that you recommend?

I recommend "The Conversion Pack" for sure. "Battlefront Extreme" is also one of my favorites. "Dark Times" has some pretty cool stuff about it. Lots of people love it. I like it but could live without it. You will also want the patch below, and as for maps I recomend anything made by the modders "Squipple" and "Jaspo." There are a few more really good modders I can't remember the names of.

All that stuff you can find on the link on the above post.

v1.3_patch
