Apparently, according to this link, TOR becomes free-to-play in 3 days (15 Nov).

I may even fire it up again and see if my character still exists.

Is anyone else thinking of going back to see what's new, now a subscription is not required?

Only a day in and it aleady looks like the 'free-to-play' TOR is a severe gimp - especially for us vets that have level 50 characters. Take a look at this and this and this for quick examples.

Looks like I won't be re-installing this afterall :-(.

It seems some of the biggest restrictions (out of many) are:
- No Operations
- Epic gear cannot be used (and if you are wearing some from your subscriber days it will be un-equipped when you log in)
- Only 2 hotbars (this is just a frelling joke - given the amount of skills you get)

I was going to have a look at this over the weekend even re-installed it yesterday.

If this is right what a bunch of frelling idiots what is the point of doing this?

So since we left about 8 months ago all they have brough out is a couple of new operations which you can never get a group together for?

This MMO is a joke think how bored we would have been grinding for loot for the past 8 months where is the new story content?

Exactly - Oh and you can't do operations unless you are a subscriber!! You are allowed to do 3 flashpoints/warzones a week apparently - and THAT'S IT!

Basically, I will not be re-installing this. They have gimped an already gimped game beyond belief. Like you said - no new story content and really bog all content in general in all the time since we last played!

So are you going to give it a go?

Saturday night I reinstalled the game. 'Played' for about 5 minutes. Got bored to death. Uninstalled.

Installed the original (and best) KOTOR. Played for 6 hours and still enjoying it even though I must have completed it about 10 times (no joke).

I think this pretty much sums up how I feel about TOR now - I shall not ever be playing it again methinks. I will be completing KOTOR and KOTOR 2 again.

Oh how I wish they would have just brought out KOTOR 3 instead of this WOW clone :-(

I went on TOR over the weekend o dear what have they done? First of all it took me about 20 minutes to think of a name as all my characters had been moved from the origin server to a new server.

Loads of stuff has been removed and now you have to pay to get basic things like hide helm. They have dropped the amount of xp you get for missions, removed two of the action bars why? You can't where epic gear it gets removed if you try and loads more.

This might be ok if you are a noob but if you are a vet it is just rubbish I think they should have let vets at least keep the action bars.

Also from what I can see since I left in May all they have managed to do is a couple of new flash points and a couple of new operations which you can never get a group for no new story content .

I will not be playing this game again and have uninstalled it shame as it could have been so good but there is no way I am subscribing again and free to play is shit.

So in summary SWTOR F2P = epic fail

Yeah it works OK for new players (kind of like an extended trial) but does not give us much incentive to go back and play. Gimping things such as the UI and XP is just a little too much.

I can see that even new players will be frustrated with some of the needless gimps though - let's face it, once you hit around level 30 you have so many skills, 2 bars is simply not enough. And reduced XP? WHY? What the hell does that achieve?

I understand they need money to keep improving it by getting subs, but even if we were subbing, what exactly have they done in half a year? Bog all. Oh well. Bye bye TOR.

Finished KOTOR 2 over the weekend (after finishing KOTOR 1 just before it) and makes me think of just what TOR could have been.

The more MMO's I play, the less I like them and I really do wish they would have just made a KOTOR 3 instead. They could have even allowed some form of LAN play to bring a multiplayer element to it if need be. Anyway, these games will remain as two of my favourite games of all time.

Give it another couple of years and I will probably play through them again for the tenth time :-)

EDIT: LOL, just realised - this time last year we were all poised at the release of TOR and look at it now! I wonder if any of the old guild still plays....
