I found an interesting video on YouTube
of people having exactly the same problem that we were having.

Also, some comments on it from other people:

Oh yeah, BTW, the reason this glitch happens is when you head-shot those guys who morph into rage guys... forgot their names.. well when? they go on their rampage and kill other enemies, the game doesn't register those they kill as being dead and part of the wave. So don't head-shot those guys- or at least kill them before they kill an enemy..

..Although this is not conclusive, as other people say it makes no difference. Looks like we will just have to wait for it to be fixed

We are not the only ones then.

Seems to be a common problem i think we should leave this quest until it has been fixed or do you want to give it one more go without head shots on those big enemies that go rage?

If you are that sort of person?

Naa sod that quest. We got plenty of time to come back to it. It was a complete waste of over an hour and I don't want to do that again.
