Had a quick go today to do some mining and found out a few things. Thought a thread on tips was a good idea. Feel free to add your own.

Auto-targeting/mining/salvaging
- Rather than set to attack target, set to autofire and as long as the gun is active it will fire at the nearest hostile, asteroid, or wreckage respectively.
- This only works with guns that have the "independent targeting" attribute.

Good find. That should reduce to agro of mining a bit.

Do you know if the resources you mine take up any space in the cargo? It seems like rocks are kept in the pocket of the pilot or something.

From everything I have seen thus far, it seems they are indeed kept in a Tardis-type never-ending pocket. I have yet to see anywhere if there are limits of any kind. Cargo seems to be for "goods" and not resources. Resources are also not ship dependent - very much like you say with it being in your pocket, where-as cargo is stored in your ships cargo hold with limited space.

Another thing I found out last night: Do not obscure (even the slightest part) of thrusters. If you do, that direction will not work. I found this was why my braking thrust was shit - I had ever so slightly (by like, a hairs width) blocked a forward facing thruster and it was not firing. After I removed said obstruction, it worked as intended.

Last thing: You can add Energy Generators to your ship with Titanium (no Iron equivalent) to help in situations where you are not generating enough energy. I'd wager these are better than Solar Panels, but heavy so keep them small.

- Inertial Dampers greatly increase breaking thrust. Currently I have only seen them available to make from Iron.
- Thrusters, it seems CAN actually be obstructed and still work effectively.
- Thruster power seems to relate to a surface area + volume formula... there comes a point where it adds little more to increase thrust in a certain direction. The stats help you gauge where the diminishing returns start to occur as you are sizing the block.
