Well, TCT for that. Yeah, the forward thing can happen with "BF" controls though, if you pitch too far forward and thrust, you are going down into the ground. The beauty of that is that you can then just angle the mouse up a slight bit to level out etc - you have full control over it - not some binary "I am going down/fucked" or "I am not moving anywhere" thing, like Wildlands.

Also, Meg, don't get your knickers in a twist. It's nice to have an opinion, you know.

my experience with flying helicopters is, memorably desert/jungle/urban strike and one of the newer, 3d GTA games (ask woody) I've never had enough interest in sims other than F/A18 hornet from '95 ish and hawx, neither of which have helicopters in, well, fly'able.

True indeed. Didn't you play BF2 with us, GMan? I could swear we all got copies of that, even if we didn't play it for very long. Great game - with decent choppers too. We should stick that on the list of stuff to try again actually - great fun co-op with 60-odd bots on the battlefield.

yar, I do remember we played bf2 briefly, i remember it was ok, don't remember why I thought only ok but we could give it a go again at some point, would be interesting to try out the helicopter controls

incidentally, is that why i have 'pnkbstrA' service constantly running? i recently set it to manual, just wondered if it was even needed now the multiplayer part of the game - public servers etc. are probably dead anyway?!

...I think our weapon and weapon part scavenge last night worked wonders. I rekon we should dedicate the first hour or so of our Friday game this week to doing that. Meg can be our map man, as yesterday - seemed to work quite well. Thoughts?

It was really good yes and we now have some great kit i have to say i think i am sold on the ACR over the S3RM.  
Also after you left we found the Desert Eagle and a 6x scope for the sniper rifle which is nice.

I think we should do a quick weapons run for the first hour and it is all in a circle .  If we go North and get the ACR, then North West for the 6x scope, West for the sniper rifle, South East for the Deagle and East for the 50 round clip we will be on easy
 street.  I don't mind being the map man again.

Sounds like a solid plan. I will have to try and pick up the Deagle at another time. Saying of which though, I never use the pistol.

The weapons we found are tops, although, kinda breaks the game a bit? farming for the best stuff before we're supposed to get it? I don't know, it is an open world game, I just wonder if it kills a bit of the progressing/loot type thing - will it kill the playability a bit if we know we've already used a guide to hoover up the best kit, will it feel like we're progressing for anything? It's like getting a level 50 legendary weapon in borderlands at the intro tutorial!

Maybe, maybe not, i'll go with the flow, new weapons are cool, just don't want us to tire of this game because we sort of spoiled an element of the weapon mechanics?!

Wouldn't say it breaks the game - all the weapons in this are fairly balanced. What you gain in damage you lose elsewhere and vice versa. The weapon "progression" isn't a linear line on a graph as you go through the game. It's not quite the same as a level 1 being given a level 50 legendary weapon (AKA Borderlands). It might give us a bit of an edge, I'd wager, but it's far from game breaking. Moreover, the weapons are situational anyway. You may shelve the weapon in favour of a different layout, regardless.

There is also the fact that we were only going to grab a few - not hoover the entire map up of all the loot. You will still have shed loads of unlocks to get and that's without even including the skill bonuses, squad enhancements etc.

That's my take on it anyway. If the consensus is not to do this then I am happy to go with the flow, just thought it was worth a shot.

I don't think it will spoil the game as there is no leveling like there is in Borderlands and like Jeg said there is no best gun and they all have different traits.  Even the first sniper you get for free can kill an armored enemy in one shot unless Greg gets involved of course.

I think we should do the weapon run and get this better load out as they are really nice and if we find it too easy we can always up the difficulty but i don't think we should do anymore gun farming just progress as normal.

So i vote for one gun run then just play the story but if we don't all agree i am quite happy to just continue on the story line

Indeed. Yeah, I think that polling system could potentially be rigged. It seems Dyson is 3 times a Vegan and lives in Peterborough (could make a song out of that).

that is true, the level you're at (sorry I missed that on my initial impressions before everyone bought the game :-s) doesn't really make you as hardcore as say the division, or borderlands, nor does it make any difference to the amount of damage taken or dished out. I like the way the greater difficulty is produced by adding more, better equipped units, rather than the same amount of the same enemy, just with much larger damage stats.

Anyway, yeah, ok, lets go grab some weapons to start with, I can't remember if I'd unlocked anything other than the 416 as far as assault rifles go, so the ACR will be a big upgrade for me..

yeah, network is a bit wonky today, and we run a VPN here at my workplace hence the odd geo location... kept pressing the vote button, despite it refusing to do anything. seems it did!

can't remember but, with the standard issue sniper rifle, does it kill a heavy regardless of shot placement?

and, following on your 'picture of the moment' can you remember where that incredibly volatile small coca base was? that was some epic stealth fail gameplay right there...
