Sword Coast Legends - The NWN sequel we have been waiting for?

If this is indeed as good as it looks, I may just wet myself. I will be keeping a very close eye on this one!

Interview with the devs here.

They are doing a 5-pack for this for £101.16.

That works out at:

£25 each (split between 4 of us - Me, Meg, Greg and Egg-Nog). This works out £15 cheaper than buying the game individually.

...or if we can find a 5th person it works out at only £20 each. This works out at £20 cheaper than buying the game individually.

So, would you guys be interested in this? I would appreciate an answer one way or the other. If all goes well, this could be an absolutely brilliant co-op game that I myself am dying to play. As you guys are seeing G-Man today, perhaps you could ask if he is interested as well?

Hello Jeg, I had a look at the game and to be honest it is not really my cup of tea. I have a fair few others to finish and pick up but might get it later down the line if you guys get it and find it to be worthwhile.

I asked Dyson on Friday to take a look but I don’t know if he has or not.

Bums. Looks like the ultimate co-op game to me. Fully customisable and moddable, built in DM and toolset, drop-in/out co-op, story designed for co-op, MADE for party play and looks sweet as frell to boot.

What don't you like about it?

Furry muff, but kinda ruins the whole "get it cheap by buying in bulk" idea though.

Awesomeness. It does look really good. We shall have to see what G-Man says - if we ever see him again. I would have thought the DM mechanic would have been right up Greg's alley. Have you seen the DM vid
, Greg?

Even with 3 of us, we are still saving a few quid on the purchase and means we will have 2 spare copies for anyone else that fancies them.

To me it just looks like that other top down hack and slash game we were playing the other day (can’t remember what it was called). I did like that game but I probably would not want to pay for it.

The dynamic DM thing is an interesting idea, but still doesn’t really sell me enough to want to buy it. Such a system would be the bollocks if it was in left 4 dead or something like that.

You have your genres mixed up a bit there Greg. This is not an ARPG like "Path of Exile", if that's the game you meant.

While the "view" is the same, it's a very different type of game. It's tactical (more like your RTS games that you love so much) and much less hack-slashy. Much deeper and generally more involved than games like Path of Exile. If you ever played Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights or Dragon-Age Origins - it's much more that type of thaang.

The DM mode is the icing on the cake - and something I thought may interest you (DM is optional in the games, mind).

Remember Knights of the Old Republic - the game you liked? That used the NwN engine. Although it was cut down a lot to "console-ify" it. Expect much more depth and a different viewpoint but it may help put things in better perspective. It sounds to me like you think it's something that it's not - and may very well like it.
