It's funny, we start playing this again and then WHAAM! They bring out a new one - called X Rebirth. Looks absolutely amazing!

They did say they are trying to make it a bit easier going for newbies, so we can only hope. IMO this is more likely to be a half-decent game than the other one you mentioned - considering they are both not multiplayer.
