A friend of mine recently gave me Dota 2. I'm having some trouble installing it, but I was just wondering if any of you guys could give me tips (if you've played it) on how to play sucessfully for when I do get it to install.

Thanks,
Sepi

Edit: Sorry about the giant run-on sentence, but I figure "It's the internet, who cares right?" Anyway, that means it'll probabl be slightly harder to read, but at this point I'm just ranting, so IGNORE THE EDIT.

Well thankyou cheers tar for that. I have never played it although I have got it. A mate on Steam gifted it to me but I have never got round to playing it.

I would be interested to hear what you think of it - and even what it plays like as I will no doubt get round to playing it soon. Then you can give me some tips :-)

So far, it has some special power aspects that are similar to World of Warcraft (which to me is a negative but whatever). I have had some issues get the powers to work, but that might be me or my computer. The idea behind the game is pretty good. It is a team of 5 heros vs. a team of 5 villians with a bunch of uncontrolable grunts running around fighting the other grunts mostly. The object of the game is to destroy the other team's citadal.

Sounds interesting. I will give it a go soon and see if I like it.

Tried this out today and was not too impressed. It's like an RPG-RTS-online-only-team-deathmatch-strategy-thingy (or an RPGRTSOOTDST as I like to call them :-)). The opening video showed promise but it all went downhill. It looked okay in the tutorial but when I got to the game proper I was very disappointed. Good job I didn't pay anything for it or I would be really cheesed off.

Been looking into reviews and opinions on this game. It amazes me that this game is so popular. It has a huge playerbase and yet is so outstandingly awful.

Well it seems obvious to me that you are clearly not that sort of person!

Ikr, my friend is a huge fan of it. I personally think it takes to long and it just isn't all that fun. Well, and I'm trash at it but minor detail.

Each to their own I suppose, it is clearly not for me. I found it boring, tedius and not in the least bit fun but there ya go.
