A game I recently discovered and added to my wishlist is currently on sale for £6.79 (50% off). It looks like it could be a very good co-op game for us to play. Steam linkage. Take a peek, it looks promising indeed - especially for the current asking price.

For those of you (X_X) that cannot view Steam at work, simply Google the game name. A brief synopsis:

Unique mix of Action, RTS and Role-playing gameplay elements that forms an innovative game genre. You can build bases, manage troops, and then come down to keep the enemies at gunpoint, gain experience in dynamic battles and customize your main characters.

Worth a purchase do you think? Take a peek at the trailer
. Some cool stuff in there. It is an EA game, don't forget.

It looks good but don't we already have a huge backlog of games? Unless we want to do this as fill in because Dyson will probably not be about for games night for a while.

That is both true and false at the same time (in a way). We do have a few games on the backlog - but G-Man was included in those and when we tried to decide on one last week, we couldn't think of one.

I mean, Red Solstice was bought and still not played and The Division looks to also be put on the back burner for a while. So...? Er... dunno really. A:CM we were also waiting on Sir Gouty to join us. I suppose we have to decide whether to ditch him or not, since he seems to be off the grid (again). Seems to often happen with the G-Man, which is a shame really.

So yeah, as I see it, we can give Red Solstice or A:CM a go without the Goutmaster, we could play other stuff we already have in the meantime (Grim Dawn, GRAV etc.?) or we could purchase something new to tide us over.

I mentioned this one purely because it was 50% off. Otherwise it would have stayed on my Wishlist until a sale. It does however, look like it shows promise. So... where do we stand...?

EDIT: Also, an update on this Warshift - it looks like it currently only supports LAN :-(

That's a bit of a deal breaker (the LAN thing)

Indeed (follow and keep an eye on this one, but leave for now I think).

But, as to my previous statement/questions... what are your thoughts?

I think its worth having a word with Dyson and just get an honest assessment on if he is liable to be about for gaming in the near future. If he is going to be going out more and online less, we can just start with other games.

Sounds like a good idea. I have text him for some info. Hopefully within a month or two I should hear back. :-)

Myself and the man of G spent quite a bit of time playing this one on Saturday - and rather enjoyed it. The fact that it's RTS-lite makes it a game even I quite like. You can even forgo the RTS side of things completely and instead control your "avatar" to act as a kind of squad leader and go kick some arse in third person.

There are only 2 problems. 1. It's 3 player max (co-op). You can have 4 players in PvP - but I have no interest whatsoever in that. 2. Only one person "per side" can be the commander (RTS).

When myself and Expon were playing, we were taking it in turns (more or less) being the commander.

Lastly, it looks like internet play finally exists in the game now.

I quite liked that one as well. Ibwas a bit pissed off you could not control the flying battleships.
There was a game on my steam feed yesterday that looked similar but I can't for the life of me recall the name.

That would be Executive Assault. It does look very unpolished and basic though, when compared to Warshift.

Yeah, we really enjoyed Warshift anyway. Not sure on the longevity with it, but we were playing it for about 8 hours straight.

Cool, let us know how it stacks up against Warshift. I personally thought Warshift was extremely well done - especially considering it's made by one guy.

You may scoff at it, but the free-to-play Dota 2 may be worth a look - since that has co-op against bots.
