Only slight fucker is that I am not on for a few games nights. Still sounds like the balance of this one means that will not be too much of a problem.

Yeah, it's a shame, but it's not likely a game breaker. Hopefully we will have the basics down by the time you get on and can help eachother out.

Failing that, the server is up during the week - you can always pop on yourself. See if you can find the downed cruiser, as my base is right next to it. I will have to find out how grouping works and the like - and if we can share coordinates etc.

Well I must say, day two of our space mission seemed to go a lot better than before. We didn't lose any ships or cargo, or had to literally enter orbit in our space suit only to splat onto the ground and get picked up from the other side of the planet. We also gained a capital vessel, soon to be warp drive capable - AND a space station! WOOT!

Although to be fair, it did come with its share of issues. The "entering door" issue with the capital ship and sync issues where the ship actually shrunk so as not to let me through the door was interesting. As was the magically appearing rocks and the "spazziness" of the ship that cause it to hover upside-down over a lake with no power.

Good times. :-)

Better get a wiggle on then Greg - we don't want a repeat of the Division (or similar).

Will do. Work is so mental at the moment I have not got a lot of time but that should die down a bit next week.

I went on last night for a bit of creative and you can build stuff save the blueprint and spawn it in a survival game :-)

I built a rather cool gunship with 2 x cockpits and thinking of Greg 2 x passenger seats in the back.  Not sure if 2 cockpits will work but worth a try

I was going to upload a couple of pictures to show you but your picture upload is not working Jeg it says bad gateway or something

Funny, I was doing exactly the same thing last night.

Just tried an image upload myself and it worked fine...?

On a similar vein, look here at some of the screenies - including the "small ship" bug and other fun things :-)

So, a situation update:

The farm is getting larger which should help with our food problems. I spent an hour simply building additional plots and planting stuff there. I also added a second food processor, in the hopes that:

- The original (old) food processor can be used for bits and bobs like plots, nutrients, sprouts etc.
- The new one (with the big "F" above it) is used to heap perishable ingredients in to process before sticking in the fridge.

My reasoning for this was that is makes grabbing all the perishable food from one place to the other easier (you will only leave the water in the new food processor). To further this idea, now, the fridge on the right is ONLY for ingredients and the fridge on the left (with the "F") is ONLY for completed/cooked/usable food items.

Should help with organising and making food anyway.

Secondly, my new dropship is done and spawned - which can be used for ferrying people around easily (would have been perfect for our little abadond mine expedition last night). It is also armed heavily and has two cockpits (not sure if they are both usable at the same time yet, mind).

So we are really after some warp fuel - which we now know how to make, then simply gather up some supplies (food, water, oxygen) for out jump - which we should all do together so no-one is left behind.

Further to the above, I saw this interesting design on the workshop, which got inspiration from the Star Wars ships, where you leave a warp drive docking ring in orbit. When you want to jump to another system, you can dock smaller ships to it and warp, then simply undock the other end - thought it was genius and maybe worth looking into.

The reason for the warp docking ring is obvious, but we may also want to set about modding the capital vessel so it can "hold" a few of our ships to take with us on the jump.

Oh, one last thing: apparently the "playfields" pause after 30 mins of no-one being there, so in effect, we don't have an energy problem when we are offline.

That warp ring is a good idea will be cheaper and quicker than building a massive mothership to start with anyway

The live pause thing is good

Indeed. Here is a video
of the docking ring in action - awesome idea, I must say. We HAVE to build some of these.

It is Greg. Really enjoying it so far, think you will enjoy it. Although we have moved on from "surviving" now, into ship, station and base construction - along with the soon-to-be planet exploration. There isn't much on the moon of the starter planet other than some useful ore.

Our abandoned mine expedition was quite cool too. Aliens and zombies infested the place, but with our 3 man team we took them out and claimed it for our own.

Yes, dear John is playing too. All we need is you and G-Man to have a proper nice team going.

Well, our mining expedition didn't quite go to plan last night. Just to fill you in on what you missed Meg...

Myself and John took the capital ship (docked with his small fighter) to that planet with the Zarconium ore (or whatever the hell its called). As we approached the planet, a plasma drone appeared out of nowhere and fired to salvos at the heart of the ship. It instantly disabled my thrusters and I was left floating in space as it swung around and continued wrecking the shit out of the ship.

We exited our seats and John went to get on his fighter to take it out. The fighter had also been blown to pieces. So, we were stuck in orbit on a ship rapidly being turned into spacedust, losing all our cargo. I equipped my rocket launcher and had a few pot shots at it, but it was too fast. Then, by luck it nose-dived into the back of our ship and got wedged in (also destroying our warp core in the process). I floated over to it and let off as many rockets at it as possible. It was destroyed.

We surveyed the wreckage of our ships to find ourselves completely fucked. Most of the thrusters were gone, the generator was gone, the warp core was gone. Half the cargo pods with all our stuff was gone. I decided the first thing that requried doing was renaming the ship, so did so and renamed it "Crapital Wreckage". We agreed to try and make planet fall so we could fix it and build a warp core to get back home. To do this we hastily installed some makeshift thrusters and generator and literally limped into atmos.

As we entered atmos, I immediately discovered a problem - we had only 2 or three working thrusters and NONE of them provided upwards momentum. I tried my best to steer the ship to a safe landing spot as she hurtled to the surface. Enemy bases, drones and all manner of things were in my path and I had little choice put to crash into the top of a mountain, in the hope it was far enough away to provide us breathing room.

As we clambered out of the wreckage we were instantly set upon by everything the planet had to offer as a welcome party - giant spiders, rocket drones, plasma drones - you name it came straight for us. John died almost instantly as I ran as fast as I could away from the onslaught. John decided a "fresh start" was in order so he could build a quick warp drive to come rescue me. I was firing in all directions at all manner of nasties chasing after me. I fell into a misty swamp and got setup upon by rock creatures. Numerous spiders had bitten me and I had ran out of health packs. Just as I thought I had lost them, I ran straight into an enemy base, which obliterated me with it's sentry rockets.

Shit.

I re-spawned near my body in the hope I could retrieve all the stuff and run. I died again. I decided to do a "fresh start", as John did.

R.I.P. Capital Ship, and all the shit that was on-board.
