stoopid phone news app popped up with this, this morning:

Alien: Covenant May Be the Biggest Disappointment of the Summer

"Alien: Covenant gets rid of everything good about Prometheus and takes all the mystery of Alien away. It basically makes both films worse."

"you’re left with an instantly forgettable piece of entertainment with boring characters, obvious mysteries, and none of the horror that made the Alien franchise so great."

This, in no way puts me off wanting to see it when it comes out, I just hope this is one reviewer that just doesn't like the film. It'd be a shame if it was like that AvP film that was a bit tossy...

Went with jen to see this yesterday and I think a overly generous summation would be 'average'. Bit of a shame really but you guys might think differently when you see it.

Saw it with Megneto on Saturday. Thought pretty much the same - it was okay. There have been far worse Aliens films, but far better too.

Glad you concurred on that one, thought I was being overly harsh. My mum wants to see it but I can't be arsed to sit through it again.

No i dont think you were too harsh. I went in with low expectations though to be honest. It was okay though... still glad I went to see it.

Dunno if you guys have seen (or heard) of it, but the recent film "Life", that came out earlier this year is pretty good - and very much like the original "Alien" film. I watched it the other day and would say that it's worth a punt.

It got really crap reviews. That does not normally put me off seeing it but it also had a really short run at the flicks so i missed it.

Worth a punt you think?

Reviews I have seen have been quite mixed, not crap, as you said. Regardless, I liked it. It's not groundbreaking cinema, but in light of certain recent releases it was decent enough to mention.

Don't believe it comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray until the end of the month.
